1. The visits by BJP chief Rajnath Singh and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi ( who apparently flew back 15,000 pilgrims) to disaster hit Uttarakhand, coming close on the heels of surveys by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, have triggered charges of politicising a natural calamity and also have passed a message that any of the state of India cannot help or visit Uttarakhand without the permission of the chief minister of Uttarakhand.

China has expanded its currency convertibility to Britain as the central banks of the two countries signed a three-year sterling-yuan currency swap lineto boost bilateral trade and financial stability. Ø  Domestic passenger car sales dropped by 12.26% to 1,43,216 units in May this year from 1,63,222 units in the same month last year and Motorcycle sales dropped by 0.72% to 8,81,288 units compared to 8,87,646 units in the same month last year, as per the data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Global Credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s has upgraded its credit outlook for the United States government to “stable” from “ negative” today saying that these is less than one in three chances of a downgrade for the world’s largest economy. It has maintained its credit rating at “AA+”, one notch lower than top most rating of “AAA”.
